The Eminence in Shadow, also known as "Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute!," is a Japanese isekai action anime based on a series of light novels by the same name by Daisuke Aizawa. Minoru Kagenou, a young man, is the show's protagonist. He appears to be leading a normal life, but he secretly longs to take up crime fighting as a vigilante.

He trains hard to acquire the physical abilities necessary for the position, but his efforts appear to have been in vain when he is struck and killed by a car while standing on the side of the road. In a world where magic is prevalent and can be learned by anyone, he is given a second chance at life as Cid Kagenou. Cid states the terrible Cult of Diabolos only exists in his head, but they inspired him to master magic and found the organization Shadow Garden.
